Luigi Gramaldi, 80, Longtime West Haverstraw Resident

WEST HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. — Longtime West Haverstraw resident the Rev. Luigi Grimaldi died on Friday, May 6. He was 80.

He was born in the Villa De Santa Lucia, Italy, on March 15, 1936, to Basilo and Rocca Grimaldi. 

Grimaldi came to the U.S. at the age of 20.

In 1960, despite not yet being a citizen, Grimaldi was drafted into the U.S. Army and served for two years. 

Afterward he attended Northeast Bible Institute in Green Lane, Pa., now Valley Forge Christian College, where he obtained a bachelor of science in biblical studies. 

Grimaldi was associate and then senior pastor for the Assembly of God Church on Gurnee Avenue, and then served for 28 year at Faith Christian Assembly of God, both in West Haverstraw. 

Grimaldi also was a mechanic, working for more than 15 years at the Lang Service Station in Rye before opening his own PTL Auto Service out of his home garage. 

Grimaldi is survived by his wife Charmian; son Joseph Grimaldi and his wife, Tracey; daughter Louanna Andralliski and her husband, Roland; sisters Maria Lagana and Josephina Parmigiano; grandchildren Heather and Jasmine Andralliski, and Derek Grimaldi.

He was predeceased by his brother, Danny, and sister, Anna. 

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 11, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the TJ McGowan & Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, in Garnerville. 

A celebration of his life and funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 12, at Faith Christian Assembly, 20 Wayne Ave., in West Haverstraw. 

Viewing will take place at 10 a.m., with the service at 11 a.m. 

Burial with military honors will be held immediately after the service at the Frederick Loescher Veterans Cemetery, Brick Church Road, New Hempstead, NY 10977. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Grimaldi's memory may be made to Joe Raso HospiceLight For The Lost or Bible Alliance Legacy Fund.
